Christian Resch

As a professional officer he graduated at the Military Academy for military leadership and CBRN Defense. For more than ten years he served the Austrian Armed Forces in various leading positions and was involved in numerous disaster relief missions at national and international level. He completed several assignments in international disaster management within the framework of the United Nations and the EU civil protection mechanism. He is a member of UNDAC (United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination) and civil protection expert within the framework of the EU Commission.

He found his way back to science and research via the chair for thermal process engineering at the Montanuniversität Leoben, where he studied process and plant safety and is currently completing his PhD at Graz University of Technology, addressing performance parameters in emergency management of major accident hazard sites.

For more than five years, Christian Resch has been in charge of research management for CBRN defense and Counter-IED within the Federal Ministry for Defense. In the Research and Defense Policy Department, he is currently responsible for coordinating European and international security and defense research.

As a fire-fighting officer, he is a founding member of the first volunteer fire brigade at universities and universities of applied sciences, at Graz University of Technology and represents Austria in the European Science and Technology Advisory Group of the United Nations (UNDRR).

In his role as managing director of DCNA he is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the strategic objectives.
