The project CROSSRISK is concerned with public warnings to decrease risk due to rain- or snowfall. We develop and monitor national and international expert workshops with focus on problems caused by avalanches. Warnings and the management of accidents and disasters in this respect are both part of our scope. DCNA develops and supports processes of national and international exchange. The analysis of the results is immediately transferred to the CROSSRISK team, to influence the further development of public warnings.

The DCNA's contribution to the CROSSRISK project was successfully completed after the third workshop and the submission of the corresponding project report. Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation, around 20 Slovenian experts from the areas of mountain rescue and avalanche warning service came together as part of an online event to discuss the structure, areas of responsibility and international cooperation of the avalanche warning commissions. For a livelier discussion, the workshop was held in Slovene and then translated and transcribed into German. The organizational framework, moderation guidelines and final report were finally drawn up by DCNA staff. The DCNA was once again able to live up to its role as a network institution and, by organizing the workshop, laid the foundation for new collaborations with our southern neighbors. In addition, interviews were conducted with Carinthian experts on cross-border cooperation with Slovenia. The results of these surveys were also included in the final report.
