Disaster Research Days 2020

Science and research play an essential role in preventing disasters. The transfer of scientific knowledge into practice, as well as the common discourse with expert representatives from authorities, emergency organizations and the economy are crucial in order to be optimally prepared for challenges in the prevention and management of disasters.

The Disaster Research Days 2020 support this dialogue and the networking between the individual scientific disciplines and departments in disaster management. The conference will take place as Webinar Series from October 13 to 22, 2020 and will  include the following highlights:

  • Opening by Federal Minister Heinz Faßmann
  • National and international keynote lectures
  • Specialist lectures about the topics
    • Disaster Risk
    • Critical Infrastructure
    • Public Health
    • Floods
    • Extreme weather events
    • Mass movements

Book of Abstracts

All contributions to the Disaster Research Days 2020 have been summarized in the Book of Abstracts. It provides a cross-section of the activities of Austrian and international actors in the field of disaster research and prevention. The Book of Abstracts can now be downloaded from the following link: Download Book of Abstracts DRD20

Conference program

The webinar series extends over two weeks, with a focus on a topic each week. Each of the individual webinar days is scientifically organized and led by a group of experts. We are currently evaluating still suitable conference tools for holding the webinars. As soon as we have decided on a software, we will provide corresponding instructions at this point.
