Silke-Silvia Drexler

Dipl.-Ing. Silke-Silvia Drexler, MBA

Silke Drexler is alumna of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna and graduated engineer of landscape planning and conservation. During her studies she focused on water ecology, and since then she works for the Institute of Hydrobiology and Water Management. Within her research function she deals with water ecology projects, which focus on the comparison of fish ecological data within a long- and medium-term framework. As a teacher Ms. Drexler is involved in Bachelor and Master studies. The subjects cover the field of plankton research and water management.

For more than ten years she is also focusing on the smallholder aqua cultural research, the capacity building in the development assistance as well as the project management of research projects with emphasis on Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenia. From this approach emerged Ms. Drexlers ongoing dissertation about the topic “Stress of Fishes – New Research Fields and Management Measures for its reduction”.

Currently she is working on her MBA in “General Management” at the Institute for Management in Salzburg, where she writes her master thesis about women in aquaculture in East Africa. Particular attention lies on gender equality and women empowerment.
Within DCNA Silke Drexler is responsible for all organizational concerns and additionally is the contact person for the working group „floodwaters“.
